Dr. Meghan Dunphy grew up in Stephenville, Newfoundland. She graduated with a degree from Mount Saint Vincent university in Applied Human Nutrition, a diploma in Dental Hygiene (2012) as well as Dentistry from Dalhousie University in 2016. For the past 6 years Meghan has been working in Edmonton, Alberta and moved to Vernon in April 2022. A true east coaster, she enjoys the water and is looking forward to lake life! Meghan's hobbies include, biking, hiking, skiing (nordic and alpine) as well as visiting craft breweries. She lives with her husband Tony,cat, Raphael and their little girl, Avery!
Dr. Kris Currie was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He went on to study at the University of Saskatchewan and graduated from Dental School in 2012. Prior to that he received a degree in Physiology and a minor in Chemistry. After practising as a dentist for two years Dr. Currie developed a passion for orthodontics, inspiring him to go back to school to become a specialist. He graduated from the University of Alberta in 2017 with a Masters in Orthodontics and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. Dr. Currie is enthusiastic about all aspects of orthodontics, from early preventative treatment to teens and adults alike. He strives to be on top of the latest advancements in the field in both traditional braces and more aesthetic treatment modalities such as clear brackets. He finds it truly rewarding to be able to improve the function and aesthetic of a patient’s smile. Dr Currie has always loved the Okanagan valley and enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children in Vernon every summer. Any patients who undergo orthodontic treatment at our office will be diagnosed, treatment planned, observed and monitored directly by Dr Currie. Most aspects will be done remotely with periodic visits in person, but all steps supervised by our orthodontist!
Breann is our Office Manager, she was raised in the small town of Princeton BC but spent her adult years in Vancouver. Breann has 12 years of experience in the dental field and enjoys every minute of helping patients with their oral health and dental benefits. She’s knowledgeable with patient and insurance A/R as well as specialties like Invisalign and Dental Implants.Breann graduated from the Dental Reception Course in 2012 from CDI College in Burnaby. When she isn’t working, Breann enjoys CrossFit, Atving, Ocean Fishing, Camping and spending time with her 3 children.
Kelly, originally from Ontario, attended school in Abbotsford, and has now lived in Armstrong for over 10 years. With a degree in Fine Arts and certificate in Graphic Design and Communications, she spent many years working for charitable arts and culture organizations in marketing, events and fundraising. She returned to school and changed careers in 2022, having graduated from the Certified Dental Assistant Program at Okanagan College. Kelly spends her free time with her husband and their many animals, and especially loves to ride her horse and drive their Clydesdales. She looks forward to meeting all the patients at Downtown Dental and Orthodontics!
Sheila has been a hygienist for 17 years but was a Dental Assistant previous to hygiene. She joined our team in January 2023 and it has been a pleasure to have her at the office taking care of our patients oral health and they all adore her!. You'll hear talk about water piks and electric toothbrushes!. On her time off, Sheila enjoys camping, reading, gardening, paddleboarding, and spending time with her husband and adult children. Omar is a CDA student who's always wanted to work in the dental field. While Omar is working towards his diploma, he is helping us as our Sterilization Tech.
He is very excited to be part of this team, His end goal is to become a dental hygienist.
Omar was born in California and recently moved to Vernon 5 years ago.
When he isn’t working, he enjoys going out and meeting new people, loves music and everything about it, and plays the drums.
Jennifer was born and raised in the Okanagan. Graduated from Okanagan College as a Certified Dental Assistant in 2013 and spent her career in Kelowna. Recently moving her skills to Vernon and being a part of the Downtown Dental and Orthodontics team. Having her Orthodontic module she is excited to be working along side Dr. Currie with Invisalign. When away from the office she loves spending her time with her husband, 2 kids and puppy. They enjoy the outdoors as a family so getting out camping as often as they can is a must.
