Dr. Meghan Dunphy was raised in Stephenville, Newfoundland. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Human Nutrition from Mount Saint Vincent University, a Diploma in Dental Hygiene , and earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Dalhousie University in 2016.
Dr. Dunphy practiced dentistry in Edmonton, Alberta, before relocating to Vernon in April 2022. A proud East Coaster, she enjoys spending time near the water and is excited to embrace the Okanagan lake lifestyle.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Dunphy enjoys biking, hiking, and both Nordic and alpine skiing. She is also a craft beer enthusiast and enjoys visiting local breweries. She resides in Vernon with her husband Tony, their daughter Avery, and their cat, Raphael.
Dr. Kris Currie was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Saskatchewan, earning a degree in Physiology with a minor in Chemistry, before graduating from the university’s College of Dentistry in 2012.
After two years in general practice, Dr. Currie discovered a strong interest in orthodontics, prompting him to pursue specialty training. He went on to earn a Master of Science in Orthodontics from the University of Alberta in 2017 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
Dr. Currie is passionate about all facets of orthodontic care, including early interceptive treatment, adolescent orthodontics, and adult therapy. He is committed to staying current with advancements in both traditional and aesthetic treatment options, such as clear brackets and other discreet appliances. He finds great fulfillment in enhancing both the function and appearance of his patients’ smiles.
A long-time admirer of the Okanagan Valley, Dr. Currie enjoys spending time in Vernon with his wife and two children each summer. Patients receiving orthodontic treatment at our clinic will be personally diagnosed, treatment-planned, and monitored by Dr. Currie. While many aspects of care will be managed remotely, regular in-person visits will be scheduled, and every step of the treatment process will remain under the direct supervision of our orthodontist.
Breann – Office Manager
Breann serves as our Office Manager and brings over 13 years of experience in the dental field. Originally from the small town of Princeton, British Columbia, she spent her adult years in Vancouver, where she built her career in dental administration.
A graduate of the Dental Reception program at CDI College in Burnaby, Breann is highly skilled in all aspects of patient care and administrative operations. She has extensive experience in patient and insurance accounts receivable, and is well-versed in dental specialties including Invisalign. She is passionate about helping patients navigate their oral health journeys and ensuring they maximize their dental benefits.
Outside the office, Breann enjoys staying active with spin classes, ATVing, ocean fishing, and camping. She treasures spending quality time with her three children.
Jennifer – Certified Dental Assistant
Jennifer was born and raised in Enderby and has been a proud member of the dental community since graduating from Okanagan College as a Certified Dental Assistant in 2013. She spent the early part of her career in Kelowna before bringing her experience and expertise to Vernon, where she is now a valued member of the Downtown Dental and Orthodontics team.
With additional certification in orthodontics, Jennifer is enthusiastic about supporting Dr. Currie in delivering high-quality Invisalign treatment. She is passionate about patient care and takes pride in helping create healthy, confident smiles.
Outside the clinic, Jennifer enjoys spending quality time with her husband, two children, and their puppy. As a family, they love exploring the outdoors and make camping a regular part of their lifestyle.
Omar – Sterilization Technician
Omar is currently a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) student with a long-standing passion for the dental field. While pursuing his diploma, he is gaining valuable hands-on experience as a Sterilization Technician with our team. His ultimate goal is to become a dental hygienist.
Originally from California, Omar relocated to Vernon five years ago and is proud to be part of the local community. He is enthusiastic about contributing to a professional and supportive dental environment while continuing to grow in his career.
Outside of work, Omar enjoys socializing, exploring his love for music, and playing the drums.
Artem CDA – the newest member of our team at Downtown Dental and Orthodontics!
You’ll see Artem working alongside Dr. Dunphy during your next visit. Originally from Ukraine, Artem practiced as a dentist for five years before relocating to Canada. He is now proud to call the beautiful Okanagan home.
Artem is passionate about continuing his journey in the dental field. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys hiking, going to the gym, and furthering his dental studies.

Penny – Registered Dental Hygienist
Originally from Southern Alberta, Penny pursued her dental education at a private institution in Ottawa, where she earned her Diploma in Dental Hygiene. Though she is a recent addition to our team, Penny is enthusiastic about the opportunity to provide exceptional care and share her passion for oral health education with patients.
She takes pride in helping individuals achieve and maintain healthy smiles through personalized hygiene care and preventative strategies.
Outside of the clinic, Penny enjoys spending time in nature—whether it's hiking, paddle boarding, or participating in other outdoor activities.
